Vodafone UK has announced a new range of SIM-only plans, including several appropriate for iPhone users. In an update to the company’s official Twitter account, a representative said the new plans are “great for iPhone users switching networks.” The plan mentioned in the Twitter update is a £25/month (roughly $40), 12-month contract plan that includes 900 anytime minutes, unlimited inclusive texts, 1GB of web usage, and unlimited BT Premium Openzone Wi-Fi hotspot usage; several other configurations are available. In addition, the company is also offering 30-day SIM-only plans for £25-£30, which include slightly less minutes and or mobile data use than the comparable plans offered on a one-year contract basis. Vodafone has announced a SIM only price plan, something that the company sees will be a better move for people who have been getting mobile handsets such as the iPhone practically anywhere these days. Now UK subscribers get the freedom to choose the subscription plan that best suits their budget, starting at £10per-month which features unlimited text messaging.
This is also in preparation of expected spikes in the SIM only and data plans which are expected to grow as more handsets, including the iPad, will be coming out unlocked.

Vodafone to supply low-Cost mobiles to its emerging markets

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: A couple of low-cost mobile phones will be started by Vodafone that will retail, without a subsidy, for less than US$20 each. India, Turkey and 8 markets in Africa – The Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, Qatar, South Africa and Tanzania will receive the phones initially.
An extensive logistics infrastructure, reaching deep rural segments where mobile penetration typically remains low will support the launches in order to maximize the availability of the handsets across countries with sizeable and isolated rural populations.
According to Patrick Chomet, Vodafone’s Group Director of Terminals, the cost of mobile handsets can be one of the most significant barriers for people in accessing and benefiting from the growing number of socially valuable mobile services and the lives of the people will be changed and improved as they become part of the mobile society.

Vodafone UK offers SIM-only option, caters to iPhone users
updated 03:00 pm EST, Fri February 12, 2010Vodafone hopes to draw unlocked iPhones
Vodafone UK ended its week by extending its SIM-only options for service with a unique spin for iPhone users. A new £25 ($39) monthly plan gives those with unlocked phones both 600 minutes as well as 1GB of data, unlimited messaging and free access to BT's Wi-Fi hotspots. The strategy lets iPhone users on "other networks" switch to Vodafone without necessarily taking a step backwards, Vodafone says.
The pitch is an unusual one as it depends on iPhone owners having an unlocked version.

Vodafone reveals ‘world’s cheapest phone’
February 15th, 2010 - 15:49 UTC by Andy Sennitt.
A mobile phone aimed at the developing world has been launched by mobile phone operator Vodafone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The Vodafone 150, dubbed by the company as the “lowest-cost mobile phone on earth”, will sell for less than $15. The first countries to receive it will be India, Turkey and eight African countries, including Lesotho, Kenya and Ghana.
The handset allows voice calls, SMS and has built-in support for mobile payment services. A costlier version, the Vodafone 250, also comes with a colour screen and FM radio. It comes with a price tag of $20. Mobile ownership will reach 5 billion in this year, according to the UN, with the most growth taking place in the developing world.
Demand is being driven by people using their phones to access banking and mobile health services, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) said.

Unless you tell us otherwise, you’ll be on the daily rate where you pay per MB which can cost no more than £1 per day. If you’d prefer to sign up for a data pack login to My Vodafone and sign up quickly and easily.
Your £1 pays for the first 0.5MB you use every day (that’s about 20 pages). But you’ll get so much more. Because we want you to get the most from your Mobile Internet experience we’ll throw in a further 14.5MB – and it won’t cost you a penny. That means you get a generous 15MB a day for just £1.
If you use less than 0.5MB you’ll only be charged for the pages you view. So five pages, for example, would cost you about 25p.
Then you won’t be charged a penny.
This is unlikely, but If you do, you’ll be charged £2 for every additional MB you use.
The main advantage is that you can dip in and out without having to worry about daily rates. You simply add this web browsing package to your monthly subscription, as you would for your PC’s broadband. The flat rate data pack allows you up to 120MB across the month. If you use all your 120MB in a month, you'll default to the standard £1 per day charge for the rest of the month.
When you subscribe to the data pack you get the first month FREE.
It depends on the type of pages you’re browsing. For example, a made-for-mobile page uses approximately 0.025MB, which means you can view around 600 pages a day for just £1. Standard web pages use about 0.1MB of your allowance.
Calculate how many MBs you’ll use.
